Approximately 6,000 workers in the National Capital Region will be dislocated due to the Federal Government Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) actions, a strategic undertaking by the Department of Defense to reconfigure its infrastructure to meet the new needs of the Military. Consequently, many civilian positions in installations such as the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Potomac Annex, the Naval Washington, Bolling Air Force Base, and Leased Space-DC will be eliminated or relocated.
